A countryside for the future

”In MittSkåne and northwestern Skåne, we have a countryside that carries what is required to meet the demands placed on sustainable, vibrant, and resourceful rural areas.”

Our area – a place to feel proud of

More and more people are choosing to move to the countryside, and everyone is welcome here. When we meet, inclusion, community, and pride in our place are created. In our area, we utilize resources and create development based on knowledge and consideration for future generations. Entrepreneurship, innovation, employment, and the growth that occurs go hand in hand with how we create conditions for people to feel good and have a daily life close to everything we need. The idea of sustainability involves everything from humans to the land we cultivate, how we utilize our nature and resources to how we create development, ideas, and new paths into the future.

This is how it goes

We want the time and commitment you invest in an application to us to provide good opportunities for your application to be approved, so start by contacting us at the development office. We can tell you more about the leader method, criteria for project selection, and what is good to consider when writing an application. The conversation contributes to us jointly refining the idea and finding the core that can then become a successful leader project.

Lerberget's harbor

By renovating and securing the quay areas in Lerberget's harbor, an important meeting place for boating, sailing school, fishing, outdoor life, and local events is preserved. The project strengthens both the cultural heritage and the future development of the coastal community.

Completion of the color workshop

The project develops a year-round operation for building preservation, reuse, and sustainable construction. Through courses, knowledge dissemination, and environmentally friendly materials, both the countryside and local entrepreneurship are strengthened.

Rydebäck's community center

”We want to create a place where different generations and interests meet, where children and youth from the scout troop can interact with older residents, and where culture and history can take place.”

Trägas – local energy solution for rural preparedness

”The project develops a movable energy bank that produces electricity and heat from wood and strengthens local energy preparedness through reuse and sustainable solutions.”

Vintage by Lena

The project develops a safe and accessible vintage store that strengthens the circular trade and tourism around Södersåsen.

Live music for a vibrant countryside

”Culture and live music play an important role in a democratic society – as meeting places, voices, and community builders –
but currently, these activities are threatened by cuts and uncertain conditions.”

Linderslund's food forest

”To meet the challenges of the future, we need to think anew – while also allowing nature's own systems to be part of the solution.”

Önneköp is growing – a feasibility study

”In a time of increasing societal challenges, the question of local food production has become increasingly important.”

Historical Image Bank

”We want to save culturally and historically interesting photographic collections. Photos full of everyday life and small and large events that are an irreplaceable part of our community's collective memory.”

Pre-study: Save coastal fishing!

To strengthen small-scale fishing, coastal fishermen need to collaborate with other actors. Therefore, we want to create a national network, to jointly discuss, debate, and advance the issue within that network.

Movement and enthusiasm in Kågeröd

”We want to create a modern meeting place for exercise that increases the activity level among the residents of Kågeröd. We believe this makes the countryside more attractive to live, work, and thrive in.”

What is the Leader method?

Voluntary engagement is the foundation!

Leader is a method for rural development introduced by the EU in 1991. The method focuses on local anchoring, initiative, and engagement. The idea is that the development of your place is most effectively carried out by those who live and work there – by you, your association, local businesses, and other organizations. You are the ones who know what needs and challenges must be addressed.
