Already today there is a significant shortage of labor in agriculture. Both in Sweden and internationally. And the situation is becoming urgent. The average age of farmers is 60 years. But we need good people for the entire chain. We need visionary innovators who can create solutions for future food production for a growing population in a changing climate, professionals who implement ideas at the farm level – and everyone in between. Many today have a poor understanding of what jobs are connected to agriculture. There is also an outdated image of what those jobs look like. Few are, for example, aware that agriculture is constantly riding the wave of technological innovation and that sustainability thinking is ever-present. To ensure full stomachs in the future, we already need more people who choose to educate themselves, work, and start businesses in the green economy. By showcasing those who are in the industry today, and highlighting the breadth of professions and specializations, the Rural Network hopes that more will be inspired and dare to take the step.
ABOUT THE CAMPAIGN
Behind the campaign Earth's best is the Rural Network's analysis group for sustainable green industries and the project Work Green. The campaign aims to strengthen the industry's attractiveness among young people and raise awareness of the number of professions available at all levels.
ABOUT WORK GREEN
Work Green is a project aimed at getting more young people and career changers to study, work, or start businesses in the green economy. Attracting more to our industries is important for everyone, as life becomes difficult without food on the table and sustainable raw materials.
